686 x Suicidal Tendencies
- Written by Pauly
Formed in Venice, CA, during the early ’80s, Suicidal Tendencies specialized in vicious hardcore early on — building a huge following among skateboarders, and lending a major hand in the creation of skatepunk — before turning their focus eventually to thrash metal. The influence on the skateboarding and music scene grew too loud for labels to ignore, and their 1983 self-titled debut release quickly became the best-selling hardcore album of its time. Music has always been a major inspiration in the design and innovations of 686 outerwear, especially to 686 Founder and President, Mike West, who grew up in the Southbay of Los Angeles running amuck with his skateboard in hand and ST on his Walkman. Thus, the partnership between Suicidal and 686 was born.
The collaboration between 686 and ST features original artwork from ST albums throughout the garments plus ST-centric detailing on the sleeves and hood. The jacket is 100% poly herringbone denim and mylon oxford, making it a unique mix of technical fabrication and innovative styling. The ST and 686 collection is made up of the 10,000MM/8,000 gm waterproof/breathable snowboarding jacket plus accompanying tees, hoodies and New Era® hat. In the tried and true words of lead singer and founding ST member, Mike Muir, “All you wanted was a bad ass Suicidal/686 partnership, and now it’s your last chance to get it!” Please visit www.686.com for more information.
