Formed in Venice, CA, during the early ’80s, Suicidal Tendencies specialized in vicious hardcore early on — building a huge following among skateboarders, and lending a major hand in the creation of skatepunk — before turning their focus eventually to thrash metal. The influence on the skateboarding and music scene grew too loud for labels to ignore, and their 1983 self-titled debut release quickly became the best-selling hardcore album of its time. Music has always been a major inspiration in the design and innovations of 686 outerwear, especially to 686 Founder and President, Mike West, who grew up in the Southbay of Los Angeles running amuck with his skateboard in hand and ST on his Walkman.
